    The claim records what has become the consensus reading of the robustness results for Hawking radiation under modified high-frequency dispersion. Unruh and Schützhold ("Universality of the Hawking effect," Phys. Rev. D 71, 024028, 2005) derived the Hawking spectrum from a small set of general conditions on the ultra-high-energy degrees of freedom, among them that high-wavenumber modes begin in their ground state in the freely falling frame and that their evolution is adiabatic, and they exhibited models in which violating these conditions produces deviations from the thermal spectrum. The explicit calculations showing that modified trans-Planckian dispersion preserves the thermal spectrum at the Hawking temperature all work within conditions of this kind, and later analytic treatments have confirmed and quantified the deviations that arise when the underlying scale separation fails. The qualified wording is faithful to the state of the art: the stated conditions are sufficient for recovering the spectrum, and known counterexamples show that insensitivity is not guaranteed in their absence. The conditionality itself is not disputed among specialists. The live question, which belongs to the broader debate over whether the Hawking prediction is insensitive to unknown trans-Planckian physics, is whether physically realistic short-distance physics would respect or violate these conditions.
