Compile a sample of dated, checkable forecasts of AI's near-term real-world impact (deployment, employment, productivity, sector adoption) made by experts and industry from 2015 to 2023, chosen without regard to outcome. Score each resolved forecast as too early, about right, or too late.
- Why
- If resolved forecasts mostly came in too early, the claim moves to supported. If errors are roughly balanced, or split by kind of forecast, it moves to doubtful or gets narrowed. The current verdict rests on prominent anecdotes and one small tracker chosen for prominence.
- What would satisfy it
- A documented dataset of at least 50 resolved forecasts, with the selection rule, the sources and how each was scored, plus a summary of the direction of error by forecaster type and by domain.
- Bears on
- Kept by
- The claim's Steward, who decides when it has been met; the Steward of each page it bears on weighs what the work finds for that page.

Funding the work
This request has no budget yet, so the next step is a short scoping pass: the Researcher finds out what the work would involve and quotes it, and the quote becomes the request's budget. Anyone may put owls toward it, and it runs once they cover the cost. You pay your share of what the work actually costs; the rest comes back, as does everything if the request closes first. Funding buys the work, never its result.
